JOB SUMMARY FOR DESIGN ENGINEER:

As a Starting and Charging Component Design Engineer, you will have opportunity to direct and participate in the development, testing, and maintenance of the company's line of starter motor and alternator products. Your work will ensure that the engines and machines have the dependable, high-performing components required to help customers succeed.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR DESIGN ENGINEER:

Candidate will be in office and lab supporting starter and alternator component development and improvement.

Serving as the subject-matter expert and primary channel of communication regarding starting motor and alternator products.

Directing the concept, design, development, and testing of complex engineering projects.

Preparing development plans and coordinate engineering meetings.

Working closely with a diverse team from a variety of backgrounds (engineering, manufacturing, finance, materials science, product validation, sales, etc.).

Leading the introduction of new products from selection, validation, machine testing, and manufacturing.

Interacting with diverse suppliers and facilities around the globe.

Conducting technical evaluations of starting and charging components and systems.

Conducting failure analysis of starting and charging components.

Identifying, evaluating, defining, and resolving manufacturing issues.

Coordinating the receipt of samples and test plans for starting and charging validation on prototype and pilot machines.

Evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of new starting and charging technologies, and communicating to colleagues.

Using technical expertise to lead a team toward the resolution of starting and charging issues.
Traveling to foreign and domestic facilities and customer sites to audit manufacturing processes, troubleshoot machine systems, and coordinate product test activities (estimated to be less than 10%)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE FOR DESIGN ENGINEER:

Good mechanical aptitude, the ability to gather relevant information from a variety of sources and communicate it in a helpful, condensed manner.

The ability to organize large quantities of information.

The ability to coordinate the efforts of a diverse team to achieve a desired outcome.

The ability to use failure analysis data to think critically and determine possible causes.

Microsoft Office.
BA Engineering Degree or Engineering Technology degree and 5-7 years of progressive engineering experience. NO internships count as experience.
