Job Summary: Installation and Support Technicians are critical to delivering on i3's promise of the world's most advanced internet, television, and voice services with the industry's best customer service. Installation & Support Technicians focus primarily on new installations of our cable television and broadband services. Technicians represent i3 every day to our customers, often in the customer's home, performing a variety of duties including installation, changes of service, additional outlet installation, disconnection of service, payment collection, and any special requests customers may have regarding the installation or use of services. Duties/Responsibilities:

• Make customer drop installations (exterior and interior) complete from tap to antenna terminals on customer equipment in customer dwellings.
• Perform new connects, reconnects, requested and non-pay disconnects; add outlets; install and/or remove converters; perform upgrades and downgrades of service.
• Analyze picture quality and judge acceptability of picture delivered following installation of cable service.
• Use connectors, fasteners, and wire, and use customary ethernet hand and power tools in the performance of job duties.
• Read signal levels through the use of field strength meter; add and subtract levels in installation problems; install connectors on different types of drop cable; maintain proper clearances; install tap-off devices.
• Properly use, store and maintain a VOM or DMM to check for "open" or "short" online as well as AC and DC voltages.
• Read general drop system layouts from blueprints.
• Inform customers of FCC Rules and company policies.
• Complete appropriate paperwork/system logs as required.
• Perform vehicle upkeep and maintenance to keep company vehicles clean, fueled, and in good working order; report problems promptly.
• Perform clean-up or salvage of wrecked materials.
• Generate additional company revenue through effective sales techniques and by offering information about product options, sales campaigns, and promotions.
• Assist other team members or perform other duties as directed. Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Willing to train, accept feedback and learn the job according to i3 standards. Education/Experience:
    • No prior experience is necessary, however, any demonstrated interest or aptitude for hands-on work, physical work, or working with cable or electrical components is preferred.
    • Prior telephone, cable, or electrical experience is preferred. Physical Requirements:
      • Must be able to work outdoors, and in all weather conditions.
      • Must be able to walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds.
      • Better than average manual dexterity to work with connectors, fasteners and wire and use hand tools.
      • Visual acuity, especially when working with small components at a close visual range.
      • Ability and comfort to works within limited confines, such as crawl spaces and attics.
      • Ability to climb a ladder or work from high spaces with or without the assistance of a bucket truck, while adhering to safety rules/regulations and with proper rigging/climbing equipment.
