Job Description:

As a Power Electronics Mechanical Platform Lead within the Low Voltage Power Electronics team, you will have an opportunity to direct and participate in the design and development of cost-effective, production-intent solutions to complex engineering problems. The engineer will be responsible for developing components that align with product requirements to ensure solutions provide superior performance, reliability, durability, cost, and serviceability. Core hours 9-3. Job Duties --- Provide global leadership in the development of concepts, designs, and feasibility studies working with teams in US and India --- Conceive and provide practical product design expertise to problem solving by applying complex technical principles --- Plan and coordinate product testing in concert with system needs --- Support aggressive development plans with own plans which the candidate will draft and execute in concert with the timing higher level programs --- Act as development team lead, interacting with system teams, plant locations, suppliers and purchasing to ensure development commitments are met --- Coordinate supplier evaluations; production readiness reviews and facilitate other required supplier development activities --- Within the scope of NPI workflow ensure that all of CAT L2/L1 NPI and APQP process elements are completed --- Apply technical expertise and product knowledge to problem resolution when interfacing with Test and Evaluation, Service, Plant personnel, suppliers and consultantsBachelor's with 8+ years or MS Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years; willing to accept internships as relevant work experience- Min. 5 years of commensurate experience and history of progressive product leadership responsibility - Min. 4 years using CREO CAD tool - Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical engineering discipline as applied to component and system design - Extensive experience with DFM and DFA - Excellent analytical skills and decision quality - Experience coordinating supplier CPPD activities - Demonstrated ability to coordinate/manage complex projects - Familiarity with Caterpillar's NPI workflow, APQP process requirements and EDS- Exhibit strengths in leadership, planning, communication, team development, good decision-making and strong work ethic
