As a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and
executing packaging requirements for aftermarket parts to ensure
the timely and efficient receipt and delivery of material from
suppliers. Proper packaging design includes the part containment,
protection, and optimization of transportation and other supply
chain functions. This position is a key role in supporting the
aftermarket packaging organization's customer ready packaging
initiative and includes reviewing and identifying packaging
requirements for aftermarket, and working with suppliers and
process partners to ensure packaging requirements are met and
executed at the optimal source.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited
to:
Lead packaging projects focused on cost reduction for inbound and
outbound, including working with suppliers to drive customer ready
packaging
Collaborate with all support groups including but not limited to
supply chain, operations, quality, purchasing, and engineering
Follow global packaging processes and perform cost analysis on
packaging processes and recommend packaging solution changes
Develop, communicate, and maintain supplier packaging
requirements---
Report and upload data/information to enterprise packaging
system.
Communicate with existing facilities on packaging issues related to
receiving, warehousing, and/or line side delivery
Lead validation of packaging developed for NPI
Perform cost analysis on current packaging processes and recommend
changes where appropriate
Perform activities to ensure parts are protected, shipped, and
delivered to the customer in a usable fashion
Resolve safety and / or quality issues caused by current packaging
through joint process improvements with packaging vendors,
component suppliers and procurement
Joint Process Improvement with packaging vendors, component
suppliers, and purchasing
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
2+ years of Logistics Engineer, Packaging Engineer, Supply Chain
Planning Engineer, Procurement and/or Manufacturing Engineer
experience
Top Candidates Will Also Have
1+ years of experience with heavy/industrial packaging
Demonstrated ability in leading and managing complex projects
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, organization and communication
skills
Documented experience working within operations that demonstrates
knowledge of material handling equipment and line requirements
Familiar with company policies and procedures with a strong
department background
Additional packaging design experience in automotive or similar
industry
Greenbelt certified
CPS knowledge
PMP certification

This role is in Morton, IL or Waco, TX
This position does not offer relocation
This position requires 10% or less travel.
