ABOUT BARBER SPRING, OH Our business philosophy has been to build high-quality hot wound railroad springs at a competitive price and extend personalized service to each customer. Today, Barber Spring combines modern manufacturing equipment and an extensive material handling capability with a flexible workforce supplying a wide range or railroad parts. With approximately 30 employees, Barber Spring, OH has an extensive warehouse facility supporting Standard Car Truck Business Operations by providing wheel chock assembly and reconditioning; and generates -$10 million in revenue annually. 2. PRIMARY PURPOSE This position is responsible for managing both the day-to-day operations of the organization, including operations, manufacturing, services and maintenance to achieve efficient and economical production while maintaining the highest standard of quality and volume requirements. 3. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee the implementation of manufacturing schedules, personnel requirements, quality assurance, production standards and safety programs
• Supervise staff, including hiring, employee communications, training, discipline, evaluation, and termination responsibilities
• Reduce inventory and assure inventory accuracy
• Direct and coordinate the production activities so that the manufacturing of products meets quality standards and cost objectives
• Develop plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees
• Prepare all safety and environmental reports
• Review production costs and product quality, and modify production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division
• Review financial records to assure accuracy
• Generate frequent forecasting, financial and operational metrics reporting to Management
• Recommend budget to management 4. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE --
  • BS: Engineering or Business discipline or ten or more years of related work experience, including management experience and experience working in a production environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing and production concepts and practices.
  • Background including, assembly components, and other specific operations knowledge, such as quality assurance, plant maintenance, and shipping knowledge
  • Experience implementing lean manufacturing concepts including, one-piece flow, 5-S, statistical engineering and kaizen
  • Demonstrate experience leading change and improvement of systems and management standards
  • Computer proficiency Other skills and qualifications
    • Prior hot wound spring experience strongly preferred
    • Excellent verbal and written communication/language skills required to include the ability to provide written and verbal instructions, compile and present business reports/correspondence, and present information clearly.
    • Interpersonal and supervisory skills, such as emotional competency, coaching, providing feedback, and evaluating performance of subordinates, and the ability to coach and motivate employees.
    • Capable of planning and organizing work and processes; ability to direct multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    • Analytical and reasoning ability for problem solving, strategic planning and creativity/innovation, and excellent judgment for complex decisions
    • Interpersonal skills to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
    • Customer service, quality and entrepreneurial orientation
