Responsibilities The Community Health Nurse Director is responsible for managing the overall clinical functions, programs and activities of the Community Health department and has direct oversight for all community-based health programs, interventions, and partnerships. Other responsibilities include management of system and departmental policies and procedures and clinical competency trainings; serve as clinical subject matter expert and resource/support to staff; lead special projects with a clinical integration focus; deliver community health and health equity presentations in the community; act as liaison to related clinical areas within the system including the department Medical Director. Support the Wellstar Center for Health Equity strategic plan.
It is expected that the Community Health Nurse Director is licensed, knowledgeable and upholds the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. It is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals in community-based settings throughout WellStar Health System. Qualifications Required Minimum Education : Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing: Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing.
Required Minimum Licensure/Certification : Current/active license as a registered nurse in the State of Georgia. Must have a current BLS provider card from the American Heart Association on the first day of employment in position. BLS Instructor course also preferred. Required Minimum Experience: 10-15 years of nursing practice that includes management of staff and sufficient clinical and process management experience to ensure competence. Experience working with diverse populations
and addressing social determinants of health in conjunction with clinical care. Preferred: Experience in communitybased nursing, public health practice, community health needs assessments and/or community benefit. Bilingual a plus. Required Minimum Skills : Ability to read, write and speak the English language. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task essential; detail oriented;--strong time management skills. Knowledge of and practices within parameters outlined in the Georgia Registered Professional Nurse Practice Act; complies with American Nurses' Association Code of Ethics for Professional Nurses. Ability to model the way to achieve extraordinary results for the organization. Credibility and competency in leadership skills.
