Freight Forwarding Operations Manager - HYBRID role
(will come to the North Barrington, IL office for training)
As the Operations Manager you will be responsible for all ocean import/export; air import; and domestic transportation for this independently-owned office of Mode Transportation.

What You Will be Doing:

• Managing two employees who will be assisting you in running all of the office operations including:
  
• Opening Import Files; filing ISF's; making payments to carriers and terminals; sending out arrival notices; distributing customs clearance requests to an outside customs broker; dispatching carriers for delivery; and closing files.
  
• Opening Export ocean files; requesting ocean bookings; dispatching carriers for pick up; sending SI's to ocean carriers; tracking and resolving issues with ocean carriers; filing AES and closing files.
  
• Managing LTL shipments for domestic shipments.
  
• Processing DHL Express import and export shipments.
  
  Requirements:
  
  • An associate's or bachelor's degree
    
  • Knowledge of international and domestic freight management systems
    
  • Experience in managing others
    
  • Five plus years of experience in both import and export freight forwarding
    
  • Excellent computer and software skills
    
  • Tremendous customer interaction skills
