The Tech Services team serves as functional area experts in
Tooling, Gaging, Test Engineering, and Manufacturing Processes for
the Caterpillar Drivetrain Team. In this role you will provide
technical leadership to Manufacturing Technicians, Manufacturing
Engineers, Product Change Control Engineers, Manufacturing Project
Engineers, and 6 Sigma Black Belts. Alongside your peers, you will
be responsible to lead developments of process design, project
planning, capital planning and procurement, installation or
rearrangement of test processes, validation of new capital
capacity, capability, and defect-free quality results. Your focus
will be on current production, New Product Introduction and
Deployment for Drivetrain components and assemblies. JOB
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise Manufacturing Engineering and Support functions for
current manufacturing processes, new process justification and
implementation, machines, equipment, tooling, work standards, NC
programming, gage planning and technical troubleshooting to provide
the most efficient and economical manufacturing and assembly of
quality products.
- The position impacts key quality goals including Continuous
Improvement, Delivery Timeliness, Equipment Accuracy, Operational
Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Capability, Part Quality, ISO and
Class A Certification, etc.
- Ensure implementation of modern technology and verify the
effectiveness of equipment and systems.
- Responsible for supporting the manufacturing operation and
Product Groups by managing specific technical functions.
- The position often confronts complex issues and problems that
require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique
and solutions can require original approaches.
- Establish and then monitor general policies and guidelines for
projects under your control to ensure specific management goals are
met and desired results are achieved.
- Work jointly with marketing, engineering and customer services
areas on concurrent product and process designs to ensure products
and processes are of robust design and support economical
production
- Work closely with product engineering, marketing, customer
services and Operations Managers to ensure common goals in support
of product group objectives. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Engineering degree with at least 5 years of manufacturing
experience OR an equivalent combination of a 2-year degree and 7
years of experience as a manufacturing engineer
- In lieu of a formal degree, a candidate may have 10 or more
years of manufacturing engineering (staff and leadership)
experience
- Thorough knowledge of the planning system, manufacturing
operations, facilities, methods and tooling required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office TOP CANDIDATES MAY HAVE:
- Advanced analytical decision making and communication
skills
- Lean or Six Sigma certification
- Familiarity with Caterpillar Drivetrain Products
- Previous supervisory or project leadership experience
- Electric Drive Experience
- Machining/Heat Treat/Assembly Experience
- New Product Introduction Experience
- Controls, Hydraulics Circuitry Experience ADDITIONAL
