The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP)
is seeking a new Division Head of Pediatric Pulmonology in the
Department of Pediatrics and Medical Director at OSF Healthcare
Children s Hospital of Illinois. What we are seeking: A nationally
recognized leader with a track record of building clinical
programs. The Division Head will oversee a strong teaching program
that supports growth of future physician leaders, the Division
currently offers opportunity to participate in medical students,
residents and fellows teaching. The leader will promote the growth
of clinical and translational research with emphasis on institution
wide collaboration. It is expected that the new Division Head will
enhance clinical operations with the goal to grow and expand
current clinical offerings. There is an expectation that the new
leader will grow the current clinical programs and develop a
strategy for regional expansion of clinical offerings. The Division
Head must exhibit the qualities required to be a successful leader
in a complex organization, including working collaboratively across
various organizations and effectively promoting the Division with
community providers and leaders, donors, and hospital executives.
About UICOMP Department of Pediatrics and OSF Healthcare Children s
Hospital of Illinois: UICOMP is one of the three regional campuses
of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, one of the
largest public medical schools. UICOMP s educational programs
include 244 medical students and 300 residents/fellows in 21
different post graduate programs. The Department of Pediatrics is
one of the largest departments at UICOMP. In collaboration with the
OSF Children s Hospital of Illinois, the Department has 19
divisions and over 145 faculty members providing general pediatrics
and subspecialty services to the pediatric population in Central
Illinois. Jump Simulation is a collaboration between the UICOMP and
OSF HealthCare. The center replicates a variety of patient care
settings to ensure novice and seasoned clinicians can practice
handling medical situations in a life-like environment. Jump
Advanced Imaging and Modeling, created in 2013, is a collaborative
effort between engineers and medical professionals to perfect the
vision of human anatomy and pathology through 3D/4D modeling and
imaging. The National Institutes of Health 3D Print Exchange Heart
Library, curated by the Jump Trading Simulation & Education Center,
was developed to grow the understanding of congenital heart disease
through the open sharing of hearts and ideas. There are ongoing
collaboration with Jump Innovation and the Department in
simulation, advanced imaging, artificial intelligence and machine
learning application in healthcare research. The current research
infrastructure within the Department includes office of research, a
dedicated biostatistician and internal research funding mechanism
to support our faculty. The primary teaching hospital of UICOMP is
OSF Children s Hospital, a tertiary care facility serving a
37-county region with a population base of over two million. OSF
Children s Hospital provides comprehensive services to children,
including Level IV NICU and a state-designated Pediatric Critical
Care Center. OSF Children s Hospital is a major medical facility
with 136 beds and a 32-bed critical care unit and the only Level 1
trauma center in Illinois outside of Chicago. There are almost 7000
admissions, 12,000 ED visits and 2,400 deliveries per year at OSF
Children s Hospital. There are existing resources through UICOMP
and CHOI to support research grants, quality and outcomes focused
academic work and innovation in health education. About Pulmonology
Division: The pulmonary program includes ventilator dependent
program, accredited CF center, a large sleep medicine program,
asthma clinics and general pulmonary clinics. The home ventilation
program has more than 150+ patients with invasive ventilation,
tracheostomy, noninvasive ventilation and technology dependency.
The Cystic Fibrosis Center is accredited by the National Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation and it is a Therapeutic Development Network
center. It has more than 110 pediatric and adult patients, both
programs under the Pulmonary Division. We also provide pediatric
bronchoscopy and pulmonary function testing services. The Division
of Pulmonology consists of 3 physicians and almost 3.8 FTE APN
support. There is a significant commitment from the Department and
Children s Hospital of Illinois to support the new leader to grow
the current clinical programs and recruit new faculty. Malpractice
insurance is provided by the University of Illinois system along

Qualifications
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have an MD, DO, or
equivalent degree, be BC/BE in Pediatric Pulmonology and will hold
or have applied for an Illinois physician s license. The candidate
must qualify for appointment at Professor or Associate Professor
lemorinvel at UICOMP.
