Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: ED - Emergency Department - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 11/10/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Emergency Room position in Illinois, requiring an active IL RN license and advanced life support certifications. Responsibilities - Work in the Emergency Room (ER) of an acute care hospital setting - Level 1 trauma center with 65 private beds and 2 trauma bays - Patient population includes all ages from newborns to elderly with conditions ranging from minor to critically ill, including trauma, cardiac arrest, stroke, and heart attack - Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:3 to 1:5 based on acuity - Travelers primarily care for stabilized trauma patients after transfer from the trauma bay - Expected to titrate and manage various critical drips, including vasopressors, cardiac, and antihypertensive medications - Use of Phillips monitors; orientation to equipment will be provided - EMR system is Epic; prior experience preferred - Requires 3 12-hour day shifts (7a–7p) per week, with rotating weekends and holidays - No call requirements for travelers - Rare floating as 'help all' support to other units - Care for a diverse range of emergency patients with both acute and critical conditions - Work within a team including charge nurses, nurse aides, ED techs, and respiratory therapists - Support from monitor techs available, but ability to interpret rhythms is required - Holiday coverage is required and determined by departmental needs and contract - Block scheduling and specific time-off requests may be accommodated based on staffing needs - Scrubs are required but may be any tasteful color with only solid-colored undershirts - COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this position - Local candidates are accepted, with different pay rates applied within a 50-mile permanent address radius Requirements - Active IL RN license required at time of consideration - Minimum of 2 years prior nursing experience required - Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (or ENPC), and TNCC (or TNS), all current and active - Proficiency in titrating and administering critical drips is required - General nursing skills and previous ER experience necessary - Prior travel assignment experience preferred - Experience in a teaching hospital with resident physicians is preferred - Ability to recognize and interpret life-threatening rhythms required Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-627608.
