Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Active IL license or
confirmation of application process initiation Certifications: BLS
required, ACLS preferred Must-Have: Experience with PEG tube
care/feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline usage and care, and care for
tracheostomy patients. Ability to titrate drips, including Heparin.
Description: The unit consists of 10 beds with a nurse to patient
ratio of 1:5. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure,
post-surgical care, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA care,
post-trauma care, and cardiac patients. Registered Nurses are
expected to troubleshoot respiratory equipment including vents,
CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow. Telemetry monitoring is conducted by a
dedicated monitor tech in the ICU, but RNs are required to read
their own strips. Shifts include 12-hour schedules from 7 am to
7:30 pm. Expectation for weekend requirements is every other
weekend and filling in as needed. Holiday rotation will be required
along with filling in as necessary. Qualified medical surgical
nurses may float to ICU, while medical surgical nurses may float to
acute rehabilitation as needed. Scrubs are provided, with the
requirement of wearing only approved t-shirts in any color.
Unit-specific orientation consists of classroom training and two
