the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find
a qualified Pediatrics RN in Peoria, Illinois, 61637! Job Title:

Certifications: BLS, PALS Must-Have: Understanding of unit policies
and procedures Description: The unit shares space with Pediatric
Hematology/Oncology. There are 22 beds available for medical and
surgical patients. The unit can expand based on patient census. The
nurse-to-patient ratio is 4 patients per nurse. Common diagnoses
include hyperbilirubinemia, neurological issues, diabetes, failure
to thrive, cystic fibrosis, COVID-19, and orthopedic conditions. A
charge nurse and pediatric crisis nurse are present 24/7, along
with administrative supervisor support. Patient care technicians
are available with a ratio of 1 technician for every 8-10 patients.
A hospitalist is in-house until midnight, with 24/7 resident
coverage. Registered nurses are responsible for troubleshooting
respiratory equipment, such as heated high flow and BiPAP.
Monitored patients are cared for, with a dedicated monitor
technician overseeing them and alerting caregivers of any concerns.
Nurses work 12-hour shifts, either from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or from
7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Every other weekend is required, with day
shifts on Saturday and Sunday and night shifts on Friday and
Saturday. Holiday work is mandated unless previously discussed and
approved during the interview phase. There is no mandatory call or
standby requirement at this time. Nurses may float within the
children’s hospital to other pediatric units or to mother-baby
units, but cannot float to ICUs unless experienced or for non-chemo
patients. Scrub tops must be pediatric appropriate, with a solid
color requirement for scrub pants. Nurses are to adhere to dress
code policies. Unit-specific orientation will be conducted over two
shifts, with the possibility of extension pending management
