Postoperative surgical care experience General medical-surgical
care experience Description: This position is for a Registered
Nurse specializing in Orthopedics. The unit features 43 private
rooms. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5 on day shifts and 1:5-6
on night shifts. Common patient conditions include postoperative
orthopedic cases and trauma cases involving fractures. Charge
nurses are present each shift, and a house supervisor is available
24/7. Patient care technicians are assigned with a ratio of 1:7-8.
The department utilizes CPAP and heated high flow equipment as
needed. Telemetry monitors are available, and RNs are not required
to read their own strips. Shifts are 12 hours for travel staff.
Every other weekend is required for both day and night shifts.
Travel RNs may occasionally float to other similar medical-surgical
floors. Any color of scrubs is acceptable, provided that a
professional appearance is maintained. Tattoos and piercings must
be covered during shifts. Unit-specific orientation is provided.
The charting system used is EPIC. This position is in an acute care
setting. The department operates under Trauma Level 1 standards.
