A skilled Registered Nurse is sought to provide dedicated care on the Intermediate Care Unit (IMC/Stepdown/PCU) within an acute care hospital setting. This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse patient population requiring specialized telemetry and critical care nursing interventions. Shift options are available on days with schedules of either three or four 12-hour shifts, accommodating preferences where possible. Responsibilities include continuous cardiac monitoring, interpreting and managing dysrhythmias, and supporting post-cardiac procedures such as angiograms, catheterizations, and surgeries. Critical care expertise in neurological, orthopedic, and respiratory patient populations is essential, with duties extending to ventilator management, central line care, medication administration including cardiac and vasoactive drips, and emergency response activation when necessary. The position requires active collaboration with Rapid Response Teams and readiness to float within the unit to meet patient care needs. Qualifications and Desired Experience: - Active Illinois RN license - Minimum of 1 year stepdown/IMC nursing experience (first-timers not accepted) - Current BLS and NIH certification; ACLS preferred - Proficient in telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and emergency dysrhythmia management - Skilled in GI, renal, neurological, orthopedic, plastic surgery, and respiratory care techniques as detailed - Competency with Cerner electronic charting system preferred - Experience in a teaching hospital or Level I trauma center environment is a plus Schedule: - 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour day shifts (06:45 to 19:15) - Every other weekend required - No on-call responsibilities Location Overview:Situated in Springfield, IL, this acute care hospital features 562 staffed beds and proudly holds Magnet recognition, emphasizing a commitment to nursing excellence.
