Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU
position requiring an active IL RN license and at least two years
of recent CVICU experience. Responsibilities - Work in an Adult
Cardiac Intensive Care Unit within an acute, Level 1 trauma
hospital - Unit has 20 private, fully monitored beds - Patient
population includes post open heart surgical cases (CABG, valve
replacements), dissections, cardiac events, severe heart failure,
TAVRs, STEMIs, hypothermia, and ventilated or overflow ICU
patients, including COVID - Typical patient ratios range from 1:1
to 2:1 depending on acuity - Use advanced cardiovascular equipment
such as IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz catheters, ECMO, external
pacemakers, CRRT, CVC, PICC, arterial lines, and utilize multiple
titratable drips - Philips telemetry monitoring is used and RNs are
required to interpret rhythms - Night shifts are 12 hours (7p-7a)
with every other weekend and holiday coverage required - Floating
to all levels of care is required and travelers are expected to
take a full assignment - EMR charting is completed in EPIC -
Responsibilities include managing post-cardiac surgery and critical
cardiac event patients, titrating multiple drips, utilizing
specialized devices, and providing comprehensive assessment and
monitoring - Team includes charge nurses (who sometimes take
assignments), house supervisors, PCTs, and 24/7 respiratory therapy
- Collaborate closely with APNs, PAs, and on-call providers - No
specific scrub color required, but scrubs must be professional,
clean, and appropriately fitting; scrubs are not provided - Local
rates apply for candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles
- COVID vaccination is not required Requirements - Active IL RN
license in hand at time of consideration - Current BLS (AHA)
required; ACLS preferred; CCRN is a plus - Minimum two years of
recent Cardiovascular ICU experience required - Proficiency in
titrating a variety of drips and experience with advanced CVICU
equipment - Strong strip interpretation skills required - Must be
able to independently care for complex cardiovascular patients in a
