Reports to the Manager of Cardiac Cath and Interventional Radiology, and is responsible for managing, planning, scheduling, implementing and evaluating operations of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Ensures the provision of high quality patient care services and processes in accordance with Medical Center and regulatory requirements. Ensures adequate staffing coverage for a fluctuating patient census. Responsible for department operations and development, implementation, and administration of patient care services to achieve the Department vision and goals. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to manage patient care services appropriate to the ages of patients served. Manages financial, capital and human resources to ensure services meet established quality and productivity standards, and implements corrective action as necessary. Develops, implements, and ensures adherence to policies and procedures in order to ensure compliance with Medical Center and third-party requirements for patient care and confidential patient information. Responsible for assisting in the development of implementing and administering new patient care services in order to achieve fiscal year business plans. Ensures that staff demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Duties may vary by assigned unit but the following are general characteristics of the job. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary for operations and to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit. This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served. 2. Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and administration in order to supervise the planning and implementation of care and ability to prepare necessary analyses, reports, policies and budgets at a level that generally can be acquired by completion of a Bachelor Degree in a health related field. 3. Approximately 3 - 5 years progressively more responsible experience in supervisory capacity. 4. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to provide effective leadership to assigned personnel, maintain positive relationships among staff, physicians and Medical Center personnel, interact with patients and visitors. 5. Analytical and clinical knowledge necessary in order to prepare and administer budgets, evaluate current methods and trends of delivering product line services and assess effectiveness of these methods. Skill level to recommend new techniques and procedures to maintain state of the art patient care. 6. Analytical skills necessary to organize and direct the work of others, develop, implement and administer policies, procedures, budgets and nursing practices. 7. Proficient in the use of personal computers.
