          This is an open continuous announcement. Initial cutoff will be 10 December 2021. Recruitment will continue through the announcement closing date until the position is filled.


          As a SECURITY SPECIALIST (TRAINING) (Title 32),GS-0080-9, you will provide guidance and recommendations to the squadron commander on all aspects of SF programs for military personnel management, budget and management analysis, training, and training resources for drill-status personnel.

          Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
          • Instruct training courses in a classroom seminar setting.
          • Locate and reference applicable law enforcement and security AF, Federal, and DoD rules, regulations, instructions, practices, principles, and procedures including force protection, integrated base defense, anti-terrorism, and physical security.
          • Train personnel in security procedures or use of security equipment.
          • Uphold security policies, programs, or practices to ensure adequate security relating to issues such as protection of assets, alarm response, and access card use.
          • Identify, investigate, or resolve security breaches.
          • Communicate security status, updates, and actual or potential problems, using established protocols.
          • Prepare reports or make presentations on internal investigations, losses, or violations of regulations, policies and procedures.
          • Assess the nature and level of threats so that the scope of the problem can be determined.
          • Write or review security-related documents, such as incident reports, proposals, and tactical or strategic initiatives.
          • Monitor security policies, programs or procedures to ensure compliance with internal security policies, licensing requirements, or applicable government security requirements, policies, and directives.
          • Determine the value loss impact and criticality of assets.
          • Develop budgets for security operations.
          • Collect and analyze security data to determine security needs, security program goals, or program accomplishments. Help

              AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code -- 709), will be in the following manner and sequence,
              • The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians in the Peoria Air National Guard at Wayne A. Downing International Airport.
              • The SECOND area of consideration will be all members of the Illinois Air National Guard.
              • The THIRD area of consideration will be all those eligible for membership in the Illinois Air National Guard. Military Grades: Enlisted only - May not exceed the rank of SMSgt

                GENERAL EXPERIENCE: All Series GS-0080 personnel must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level. Each applicant must possess experience or training which includes education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the aspects of military personnel management, budget, and training analysis to support Security Forces operational programs, as well as, training and/or training resources to drill status personnel and experience, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures.

                SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09 Level- Must possess specialized experience which includes 12 months of experience in the security career field, to include technical training schools and drill-status working experience; experience in commonly used methods, procedures, regulations and other guides that relate to training programs within the applicable Security Forces career field; experience developing, analyzing, and evaluating security training programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security-training program for the installation; experience defining problem areas and in application of conventional training program management principles and concepts; experience in the logistics plans and support functions that interrelate with the Security Forces work requirements; skills and competency to instruct training courses in a classroom seminar setting; knowledge of applicable law enforcement and military security, along with Federal and DoD rules, regulations, instructions, practices, principles and procedures including force protection, integrated base defense, anti-terrorism and physical security; experience in conducting training and educational assignments, handling problems and deviations or resolving most problems in accordance with instructions, policies, regulatory/agency guidance, previous training and/or accepted unit administration practices; experience in developing training lesson plans and timetables under general guidance to meet technical soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to mission policy and requirements in detail; experience in applying National Guard, gaining command, and local unit regulatory requirements and policies governing training and operations for contingency bed-down, sustainment, survivability, and recovery operations; experience in performing and enforcing Security Forces duties, that may included apprehending and detaining violators of laws, rules, and regulations and turning these violators over to the Federal or civil police or other law enforcement officers for arrest and posting of collateral.

                One year of specialized experience equivalent to the lower grade level in the Federal service in order to be considered for this position.

                Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
