This is a 12-month, benefits-eligible position reporting to the Director of Athletics with a start date as soon as possible. The successful candidate will have a focus on serving the needs of administrative and coaching staff, as well as the student-athletes in the department in support of our NCAA Division III athletics department. On the field of play, the Prairie Fire teams are on the rise led by the mens and womens soccer teams, capturing a combined eight of the previous ten MWC regular-season championships and securing NCAA Tournament berths five times. In the spring of 2021, sprinter Derrick Jackson 22 was awarded the MWC Outdoor Championship Outstanding Track Performer of the Meet and All-Region honors in addition to finishing 5th and 6th in the 100m and 200m respectively at the outdoor NCAA track & Field Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina. Perhaps the most storied athletics programs in Knox history, mens and womens golf have a combined 33 MWC titles. In the classroom, about one-third of student-athletes earn MWC academic all-conference honors annually with the student-athletes averaging a 3.1 GPA and an impressive 92% academic success rate. And, recently, U.S. News & World Report listed Knox among the top 50 U.S. colleges for best undergraduate teaching.ResponsibilitiesDuties include serving the needs of administrative and coaching staff in the department and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the department. This position serves as the contact for the Athletics Department to the campus at large and to community members. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to processing invoices and product orders, competition contract management for some home events, payments to officials and other professional services, hiring and time card management of student employees, facilities scheduling, and related calendar management. Other responsibilities include team travel assistance (primarily bus and rental car contract assistance), the printing of monthly budget reports for coaches and basic budget assistance as needed, general record-keeping, managing and purchasing office supplies, room signage for visiting teams, assisting with the annual update of the student-athlete handbook, and other general clerical tasks. Also assists with the following, less frequent or occasional tasks, if needed: special event planning, assisting with on-boarding new staff, special senior staff with tasks, assisting coaches with boxed lunch meal orders for teams if requested, basic credit card management, and expense reconciliation if needed, and other administrative tasks and responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent GED with experience with clerical or administrative tasks
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task as well as the ability to be flexible when priorities shift.
      • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects
      • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
      • Demonstrated oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills
      • An appreciation for a residential liberal arts education and flexibility to adapt to constant change
      • Respect for individual differences, openness to the values and opinions of others, and commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive environment for underrepresented communitiesPreferred Qualifications:
        • Associate of Arts Degree or Bachelors degree
        • Demonstrated experience working on a college campus
        • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drives
        • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
        • Extensive computer and software skills.
        • Experience with maintaining multiple calendars.
        • Experience scheduling and coordinating staff and other small group meetings.
        • Experience with processing invoices and preparing purchase orders
        • Experience with advanced office management tasks
        • Demonstrated progressive increase in administrative responsibility
