Overview POSITION SUMMARY: The Patient Access Coordinator ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, which includes patient demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor and registration precision in a manner which they understand what services they are receiving, their financial responsibilities for the services provided, and expectations of them while at the facility. Excellent patient service skills are expected to create an exceptional first impression of OSF. A high degree of deductive reasoning and logic skills are necessary in order to solve issues that can arise in a complex, multi-payer situation. Function as a team resource on highly complex issues and problem resolution. The Patient Access Coordinator will serve as a dedicated escalation point for multiple functional areas and determine the appropriate outside resources that are required to support escalation. This position has a significant understanding of the revenue cycle and the importance of evaluating and securing all appropriate financial resources for patients to maximize reimbursement to the Health System. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma or GED Experience: 2 years of direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting Other skills/knowledge: Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation, Problem solving, conflict management, time management, good oral and written communication skills. Meets requirements for internal Revenue Cycle Patient Access quality audits, competencies, productivity, performance, and adheres to the Standards of Performance Required to complete all role specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Enrolled or completed course work in a healthcare related field through an accredited college or university. Experience: 3 years in an office clerical setting or customer service environment. Licensure/Certifications: HFMA CRCR certification Other skills/knowledge: Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers.
