Job Description:
Brandt -Industries USA -is currently seeking a Fabrication
Supervisor for our Bloomington-Normal location. - The successful
candidate will possess a minimum of 3-5 years practical supervisory
experience, having supervised at least 10 employees. - A
journeypersons certificate is preferred but not required. - They
will have strong organizational and leadership skills and have the
ability to work individually as well as part of a team. - The
selected candidate will have a positive attitude, be a fit with the
Brandt team and leadership requirements, and be able to lead by
example.
- Supervise the production crew and monitor productivity and
efficiency of department to ensure that the production schedule and
customer delivery schedules are met in an efficient and effective
manner
- Assign work, prioritize work and ensure employees follow
direction given regarding safe work practices
- Maintain shift and department employee headcounts at the level
established by management
- Ensure department is consistently producing a high quality
product and inspect quality and procedures on an ongoing
basis
- Ensure safe work practices are followed at all times and all
workers know and understand the Brandt safe work practices
including their responsibility to ensure all Brandt employees are
working in a safe manner
- Identify and support opportunities to eliminate waste and lead
initiatives to improve plant efficiency and quality
- Utilize the appropriate tools and methodologies of lean
manufacturing to inspire continuous improvement and operating
excellence
- Help establish meaningful metrics to drive
improvements
- Work with operations and shop management to establish areas and
needs for continuous improvement
- Help develop shop layouts to maximize efficiencies of the
entire plant
- Report department and shift productivities and efficiencies to
management, including identifying root cause of issues or
obstacles, as well as review corrective steps taken to
address
- Provide adequate direction to foremen and staff regarding safe,
efficient, and effective use and operation of Brandt owned tools
and assets
- Ensure employees are reporting completions and results
accurately and in a timely manner
- Investigate and respond to potential quality issues brought
forth by customers, whether internal or external. - Develop action
plans to address issue brought forth and implement those actions to
prevent recurrence
- Work with planning, purchasing and Inventory Materials
Management department to ensure inventory levels remain accurate. -
Ensure completions and inventory consumption is reported in an
accurate and timely manner. - Ensure inventory levels of those
items consumed by the department are maintained appropriately to
reflect reality
- Enforce all Brandt policies that are in place including
safety
- Assist the Operations and Shop Managers in creating and
sustaining a culture of continuous improvement
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills
- Preferred 3-5 years of previous experience with Brandt,
building Brandt Product, setting up Brandt work centers, creating
Brandt SOPs
- Previous experience training welders in both theoretical and
practical welding processes which would include various wires
include Hardcore, Metalcore and Fluxcore. Must understand weld
shield gas requirements for each wire. Experience with training how
to weld carbon steels with low to high carbon content, varying
thickness and alloys using single or multipass welds
- Must be knowledgeable in the use and operation of all hand
power tools
- Knowledge of settings and operation of oxygen acetylene cutting
torch, arc welder and mig welder
- Must be able to understand and carry out written and verbal
instructions
- Has some knowledge of proper maintenance of equipment under
this classification
- Must be able to read and understand shop drawings
- Must be capable of working under minimum amount of
supervision
- Has good understanding in proper use and care of jigs
- Able to effectively communicate in both technical and
user-friendly language when appropriate, with all types of staff,
including technical, professional, and upper management
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with business
units, corporate departments, key managers, and other
stakeholders
- Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.

Required Experience
- Must have 3-5 years of previous supervisory experience, having
supervised at least 10 employees
- Must be able to perform all welding functions at an acceptable
standard level including MIG
- Must understand and be able to weld with various wires include
Hardcore, Metalcore and Fluxcore. Must understand weld shield gas
requirements for each wire.
- Must have good knowledge to weld carbon steels with low to high
carbon content, varying thickness and alloys using single or
multipass welds
- Must be knowledgeable in the use and operation of all hand
